About
A counter for things that only work together
Crowd is a free, anonymous tool for conditional collective action. Set a target number of people, share one link, and if enough people say yes before the deadline, it happens. No accounts.
Why it exists
Plenty of things would happen if people knew others were in. The first person to walk out, book the coach or cancel the subscription takes all the risk, so usually nobody does. Crowd exists to remove that first-mover problem with the smallest possible tool: a target, a deadline, a link and a public count.
It is deliberately minimal. No accounts, no feed, no messaging, no profiles. One page per action, and the page shows only what it needs to.
Principles
- Anonymous by default. No names, no emails, no participant list, ever.
- Free. No paid tier and no adverts on action pages.
- Nothing to install. A link that opens in any browser.
- All or nothing. If the target isn't reached by the deadline, nobody is committed.
- Honest about limits. Counts are counts of devices, not verified people.
Contact, abuse and takedowns
Questions, press, or a problem with an action: [email protected]. Include the action link if you are reporting one. Actions that incite violence, break the law or target individuals are removed.
